Survey: Water shortage is a very serious
problem
SOQUEL, CA —
Soquel Creek Water District recently surveyed a sampling of its customers
and discovered nearly half of the respondents rated future water supplies
as a very serious problem, more so than the area's traffic or housing
concerns, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported.
According to the
paper, the water survey was conducted by Gene Bregman & Associates, which
randomly selected 400 district customers to participate.
The survey also
found that 52 percent of the respondents regularly drink tap water; 71
percent have low-flow toilets; and 61 percent said they couldn't do much
more to conserve water, the article reported.
Soquel Creek Water District officials are currently looking for a new
water source, such as desalination, importing water or recycling, or a
combination of these methods, the Sentinel reported. |
